Race to the Top of Mt. Umunhum
This event is a point to point half marathon that starts at the Hacienda Entrance of Almaden Quicksilver County Park and climbs to the summit area of Mt. Umunhum. The course total is about 13.35 miles with a reported ascent of 4,767 feet and a 6 hour time limit. Runners wear black-numbered bibs on a yellow background.
The route is marked with single solid pink ribbons, orange cones, signs and gypsum, with a known exception: there are no pink ribbons for a 1.8 mile section on the Barlow Trail between mile 8.2 and mile 9.9. Signs lead runners for the final three miles toward the finish. The course is supported with toilets at the start, at all aid stations, and at the finish.
Aid stations and drop bag locations include the Woods Parking Lot (mile 5.3) and the Mt. Umunhum summit parking lot (finish). Drop bags handed in at check in will be transported to the summit parking lot. The organizer recommends warm clothing to put on after the run.
Parking is available in the Hacienda main entrance overflow lot and carpooling is encouraged. The event provides shuttle transportation from the finish back to the Hacienda parking area; travel time from finish to start is approximately 20 minutes. Cutoffs on the course are strictly enforced.
