Event Overview

Race to the Stones takes place on July 11-12, 2026. The event is located on the Ridgeway in Southern England. The Ridgeway is described as Britain's oldest footpath and trail, used as a trading route for thousands of years. The finish is at the Avebury Standing Stones, a 5000-year-old UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Distances

The event offers several distance options:

  • 50 km (Day One – Thames Valley 50K)
  • 50 km (Day Two – Ridgeline 50K)
  • 100 km non-stop
  • 100 km over two days

The Route

The 100 km course follows the Ridgeway. It includes chalk downs, ancient forests, riverside paths, some quiet roads, and passes historic landmarks. These include Grim's Ditch, Liddington Hill Fort, the Uffington White Horse, Barbury Castle, and the village of Goring on the Thames. The course gains 1350 meters of elevation.

Event Support

The course is fully signposted. There are seven main pit stops stocked with food and drinks, including cereal bars, chocolate, fresh fruit, crisps, sandwiches, tea, coffee, and porridge. A halfway basecamp on Lattin Down offers hot food, showers, and live entertainment. Medical personnel and paramedic teams are present. Participants receive a finisher's medal, a free hot meal at the finish, and access to showers. Bag transfer is provided. Optional shuttles and parking are available for an additional cost.

Other Information

Entry prices start from £45 per person, with payment plans available. A rolling prize fund exists for breaking the course records, with £1000 for men and £2000 for women in 2026.
