The MTC Windsor Ultra
The MTC Windsor Ultra is a 47-mile point-to-point ultra marathon. The route follows the River Thames from Henley-on-Thames to Kingston upon Thames. Participants start outside The Catherine Wheel pub in Henley-on-Thames and finish outside the Travelodge in Kingston upon Thames.
Course Details
The course passes several landmarks including Marlow Lock, Cookham Moor, Maidenhead Bridge, Windsor Racecourse, Eton, Windsor Castle (visible from Brocas Meadow), Runnymede, Staines Bridge, and the Queen Mary Reservoir.
Event Support
There are three checkpoints along the route providing food and drink. Example items include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, dried fruits, squash, cola, and water. The organizers endeavor to cater for Gluten Free, Vegan, and Vegetarian diets if notified during entry.
All finishers receive a bespoke Windsor Ultra medal and either a technical t-shirt, mug, or hat. The first male and female finisher each receive a "Champions Trophy."
Logistics and Requirements
Registration takes place on the morning of the event. Participants must provide their own transport to the start and from the finish, with train stations located near both points. A minimum pace of 4 mph is enforced throughout the event; runners falling below this speed will be withdrawn. Entrants must be 20 years or older on race day. A mandatory kit list includes a GPS device or phone with the route downloaded, and a mobile phone. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
