The MTC Windsor Ultra : 8 August 2026

The event is an ultra marathon of 47 miles held along the River Thames, starting outside The Catherine Wheel in Henley-on-Thames and finishing outside Travelodge Kingston Central, Kingston upon Thames (KT1 2PD). The published total ascent is 155 metres and total descent is 182 metres. Entry for individuals is priced at £90 (non-refundable). A deferral option to the following year is available for £15 up to four weeks before the event. Finishers receive a bespoke Windsor Ultra medal and one of a technical t-shirt, mug, or hat. The first male and first female finisher each receive a bespoke Windsor Ultra trophy.

Route, checkpoints and requirements

The route follows the Thames Path via landmarks including Marlow Lock, Cookham Moor, Maidenhead Bridge, Dorney Thames Field, Boveney Lock, Windsor Racecourse, Brocas Meadow and Windsor Bridge, Runnymede, Bellweir Lock, Staines Bridge, Queen Mary Reservoir, Shepperton Lock, Teddington and on to Kingston. There are three checkpoints that provide water and basic nutrition; example items listed include malt loaf, sandwiches, dried fruit, squash, cola and water. Checkpoint distances are: Start to CP1 - 9.5 miles; CP1 to CP2 - 12 miles; CP2 to CP3 - 13.9 miles; CP3 to Finish - 12.9 miles. Competitors must carry mandatory kit such as a GPX device or downloaded route and a mobile phone. Entrants must maintain a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour or they will be withdrawn.
