Route, checkpoints and rules
The course follows the River Thames through Henley, Marlow, Cookham, Maidenhead, Dorney, Windsor (including Brocas Meadow and Windsor Bridge), Runnymede, Staines and past the Queen Mary Reservoir, before leaving the Thames Path to finish at Kingston. There are three staffed check-points that supply water and food. Distances between checkpoints are: Start to CP1 - 9.5 miles; CP1 to CP2 - 12 miles; CP2 to CP3 - 13.9 miles; CP3 to Finish - 12.9 miles. Example checkpoint items include malt loaf, sandwiches, dried fruit, squash and water; the organisers aim to cater for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. Competitors must carry mandatory kit such as a GPX device or downloaded route, and a mobile phone. Entrants must maintain an average of 4.0 mph (including stops); falling below this may result in removal from the race. Check-point closure times are published relative to race start.
