Course and race logistics
Distances:
- 5k - 1 lap, 467 ft gain
- 25k - 2 laps, 2,046 ft gain
- 50k - 4 laps, 2,188 ft gain
Snowshoes are required for the entire race and must be carried on the runner or worn. The course is expected to include singletrack, doubletrack, and groomed snowshoe trails. Course layouts may be modified before race day because of weather and trail conditions; loops are described as under 8 miles with about 500 ft of climbing per loop. The event uses a two-aid-station system: start/finish and an on-course station at roughly 4 miles. Aid station supplies include water/Skratch, chips, cookies, bananas, vegetable soup or broth, and assorted salty and sweet snacks. The event is cup-less; competitors should bring their own cup or bottle, or buy a reusable cup at packet pickup for $5. Packet pickup is preferred on the Friday before the race; limited pickup is available on race morning. Course cutoff is set at 10 hours, with a 7.5-hour cutoff for the final lap.
