Byers Peak Stampede Half Marathon & 5K Run
The Byers Peak Stampede takes place Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Fraser, Colorado (1741 Co Hwy 73). The event includes two distance options:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
Both courses run on unpaved roads and trails in the Rocky Mountains, approximately an hour from Denver. The half marathon course is almost entirely on dirt roads and trails, with an approximate start elevation of 8,700 ft and sections above 9,500 ft. Aid stations on the half marathon course provide water, sports drink, and fruit. The half marathon enforces a time limit; racers must reach mile 9 by the race’s published cutoff.
The 5K takes place on dirt roads near the High Country Stampede Rodeo grounds and has an aid station at the finish line. Dogs are permitted on leash for participants and spectators.
Packet pick-up and a pre-race gathering are scheduled for Friday, August 21, at Vicious Cycle Brewing in Fraser. All proceeds from the event benefit the Shining Stars Foundation; the foundation offers more than 65 programs provided at no cost to children and families and delivers long-term, year-round services for families at various stages of a cancer journey, including treatment, relapse, or remission.
The event meets the American Trail Running Association criteria for safety, organization, and environmental consideration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
