Event overview

The Byers Peak Stampede Half Marathon & 5K Run takes place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Fraser, Colorado (1741 Co Hwy 73, Fraser, CO 80442). The event offers two distances:

The event is held on unpaved surfaces in the Rocky Mountains, about an hour from Denver. It meets criteria set by the American Trail Running Association (ATRA). Packet pick-up and a pre-race gathering are scheduled for Friday, August 21 at Vicious Cycle Brewing in Fraser. Grand County residents are eligible for a 10% local discount with proof of residency at check-in.

Course and race details

The Half Marathon course is almost entirely on dirt roads and trails, beginning at approximately 8,700 ft and rising above 9,500 ft. Aid stations on the half marathon course will provide water, sports drink, and fruit. The half marathon has a time limit; racers must reach mile 9 by 10:30AM. The 5K takes place on dirt roads near the High Country Stampede Rodeo grounds and will have an aid station at the finish. Dogs are allowed on leash.
