Summits Trail Runs
The Summits Trail Runs take place at Granby Ranch Resort in Granby, Colorado. The event offers multiple trail distances that run on single-track trails, service roads, alpine meadows, aspen groves, and rugged mountain terrain with notable elevation change.
Distances offered:
- Elevation Challenge (14 hour format)
- 50k
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 6 Mile
The Elevation Challenge uses repeated loops on the West Peak service road. Each loop is 1.98 miles with 766 feet of climb and 766 feet of descent. Participants have 14 hours to complete as many full loops as they want; the final result is total elevation climbed and only complete loops count. Aid stations are located at the top and bottom of the loop and participants check in at those stations.
Logistics include a combined runner capacity of 250 and varying time limits by event. Aid stations are described as well stocked. Drop bags are allowed at the Start/Finish aid station; participants in the Half Marathon, Marathon, and 50k may also use a Bootlegger aid station drop bag. Spectators are permitted only at the start and finish area. Crews and pacers are prohibited under the event permit rules. Designated parking areas are required.
Camping near the Start/Finish is available through Granby Ranch Resort for a fee with limited services; fees, check-in and vacate times, and facility notes apply. Participants receive a gender specific race shirt and finisher medal; there are no podium or age group awards. Elevation milestone awards and DFL awards are used for specific challenges. Volunteers earn HPRS credits for time served. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
