Race The Train
Race The Train is an annual one-way 5 km event from Dinas station to Caernarfon station, held on 22/07/2026. The event is run along the Lon Eifion cycle track and typically involves participants travelling by train from Caernarfon to Dinas before running back to Caernarfon when the train departs Dinas.

Entry for the main race is by prior registration through an external system. Entries are limited, numbers are non-transferable, and there are no entries on the night. Affiliated entry fee is £10 and unaffiliated entry fee is £12. A free commemorative slate is provided by Inigo Jones, Groeslon. Course records are listed as 13 minutes 44 seconds (men, 2012) and 16 minutes 55 seconds (women, 2017); a cash prize is offered for beating a record.
The main event has a minimum age of 12 years on the day. A separate junior race allows younger children to run the same route for one mile; the junior entry fee is £2, includes a goody bag, and places are limited to 40 runners. Age-group prizes are awarded across multiple categories including U16, U18, U40, O40, O50, O60, O65, O70, and O75. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
