About the race
Tour de Llyn Llydaw is a fell running event based at Pen-y-Pass Youth Hostel, LL55 4NY (GR 647556). The main route covers 8 km / 5 mi with a total ascent of 181 m / 594 ft. There is also a short course for juniors.
The event sets a minimum age of over 16 for the main race. A separate junior short course is provided for over 12s, approximately 1.8 mi with about 300 ft of climb. There is no teams competition.
Records for the event include a male best time of 38:05 set in 1992 and a female best time of 47:01 set in 2017. Entry on the day is charged at £4 only. The event is insured by the Welsh Fell Runners Association.
Organisers advise that the route can be demanding in poor weather. Participants are expected to be prepared with full kit suitable for winter mountain conditions.
