14th Annual RACE for the Orphans 5K
The 14th Annual RACE for the Orphans 5K takes place on May 2, 2026 in downtown Newnan, Georgia, with the event centered at First Baptist Church of Newnan (15 W Washington St). The race supports RACE for the Orphans, Inc., an organization founded in 2013 that raises funds for adopting families and promotes awareness, compassion, and education about the needs of orphans. The event has grown to more than 1,000 participants. Runners, walkers, and strollers are welcome. The program also includes a Tot Trot for ages 5 and under and Mia's Mile Fun Run/Walk.
Race details and logistics
The 5K course is USATF certified (GA19094WC) and serves as a qualifier for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race. Start2Finish Atlanta will manage the finish line and use RFID chip timing. Awards include medals and cash prizes for top overall finishers (1st place receives $500 plus a free pair of shoes from Dragonfly Running Company; 2nd place $250; 3rd place $100). Masters and age-group awards are also provided, and the top three schools with the most participants receive awards. Packet pick-up is available at Dragonfly Running Club (10 LaGrange Street) before race day and at First Baptist Church of Newnan on race day. A race T-shirt is guaranteed to registrants who register by April 26; early registration pricing ends April 26 and increases on April 27.
