15th Annual RACE for the Orphans 5K
The event is a community running day held in downtown Newnan, Georgia and organized by RACE for the Orphans. The 5K course is USATF Certified (#GA19094WC) and serves as a qualifier for the Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race. Start2Finish Atlanta will manage the finish area and use RFID chip timing for official results.
The event includes multiple distance options:
- Tot Trot for ages 5 and under
- Mia's Mile fun run/walk
- 5K course USATF Certified (#GA19094WC) and Peachtree qualifier
Awards and prizes are given across several categories. Overall male and female 5K winners receive medals and cash prizes including a first place prize of $500 plus a free pair of shoes from Dragonfly Running Company, second place $250, and third place $100. Masters and age group awards are presented, and the top three schools with the most participants receive Amazon gift cards.
The event supports fundraising for adopting families and is connected to RACE for the Orphans, a nonprofit founded in 2013 to raise awareness, compassion, and education about orphan care worldwide. Participation numbers have grown to more than 1,000 participants and volunteers. A race T-shirt is guaranteed to registrants who register by April 25.
