NICE Race for Refugees
The inaugural NICE Race for Refugees takes place at Cornelia Fort Airpark at Shelby Bottoms in Nashville, Tennessee. This community event provides an opportunity for outdoor movement and supports the Nashville International Center for Empowerment (NICE). As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 2005, NICE provides essential services including refugee resettlement, health navigation, and employment assistance to immigrants and refugees throughout Middle Tennessee.
The proceeds from the event are used to sustain various programs such as adult and youth education and social services. These initiatives aim to help new residents reach stability and self-sufficiency in their new environment. The event features two main running distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Registration is organized into categories for adults, youth aged 11-17, and children aged 10 and under. The race is located within the park at 1199 Shadow Ln, offering a morning of physical activity within the green spaces of the Shelby Bottoms area.
