Race for Peace 5K
Race for Peace, or Carrera por la Paz, is a fundraising 5K run/walk organized by the Little Village Rotary Club. The event raises funds to promote peace and anti-violence by supporting youth programs in Chicago’s Little Village and nearby communities.
The event location is La Villita Park, 2800 S Sacramento Ave, Chicago, IL 60608. The main park entrance and lot are accessible via South Albany Ave on the south side of the park. A free on-site parking lot and street parking are available. Multiple CTA bus stops serve the area and the CTA Pink Line station is about one mile from the park.
Race amenities include a finisher medallion and an event T-shirt for every registered participant. Participant packets are available only on Race Day and include a bib number, shirt, and other giveaways. Competitive events qualify for cash prizes awarded to the top three finishers in both men’s and women’s categories.
Organizers note that check-in is handled on Race Day and recommend arriving early for packet pickup. Check-in volunteers can store personal items during the event, but the organizers are not liable for lost or stolen belongings. The event lists community and corporate sponsors for recent years.
