Event Details
The Race for Peace 5K is a community run/walk event presented by the Little Village Rotary Club. It is the 6th annual event, also known as Carrera por paz. The objective is to promote anti-violence by supporting youth programs in Chicago's Little Village and surrounding communities. Proceeds are invested in the community through renewable grants, youth development, and job training.
Events and Structure
The event offers two in-person 5K options:
- Race for Peace—5K Competitive
- Race for Peace—5K Non-Competitive (all ages)
Only the competitive 5K event qualifies participants for cash prizes. All 5K in-person participants qualify for age group and gender awards. The event is chip-timed on a certified 5K course (certification code IL21011NM).
Participant Information
All registered runners receive a finisher medallion and a race day event t-shirt. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three runners in both the men's and women's categories for the competitive event. The event is open to participants aged 5 to 100.
