Event Details

The Palos Park Doggie Dash is a dog-friendly running event taking place on Saturday, May 16, 2026. It is the 4th annual edition of the event, held at the Palos Park Recreation Center on 8901 W. 123rd Street in Palos Park, Illinois.

Race Information

The event features three different race options:

  • A 5K Run/Walk.
  • A 5K Run/Walk with Dog.
  • A 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, which can be done with or without a dog.

The course showcases the village's streets, described as having rolling hills, mature trees, and a peaceful atmosphere. The 1-mile route is a loop, while the 5K course is an out-and-back route. All participants receive a finisher medal. There are no overall or age group awards.

Post-Race Activities

After the races, a post-race village opens on The Village Green. Activities include food, local pet-themed vendors, and a 'Pup Parade' with prizes for categories like Best Costume, Cutest Pup, and Best Personality. The event concludes at 12:30 PM.

Important Notes

All dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times during the race and post-race activities. The event is held rain or shine, though organizers hold the right to cancel due to inclement weather. Registration is non-refundable. Participants registered by May 1, 2026, are guaranteed a race shirt in their selected size and a finisher medal. Packet pick-up is available the day before the race and on race morning.
