Palos Park Doggie Dash
The Palos Park Doggie Dash is an annual community event held at the Palos Park Recreation Center in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. This 4th annual edition features courses that travel through a village environment characterized by rolling hills, mature trees, and peaceful streets. The event is open to participants both with and without dogs.
Participants can choose from two different distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk
The 1-mile course follows a loop through Forest Glen Blvd, 91st Ave, 126th Street, 89th Ave, and Rosewood Ave. The 5K course is an out-and-back route that shares initial pathing with the shorter distance but extends right onto Ridge Ave and 88th Ave with a turnaround at 120th Street. For safety, all dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet at all times.
All registered participants receive a finisher medal, and those registered by May 1 are guaranteed a race shirt. Please note that there are no overall or age group awards for the competitive portion of the event. On-site facilities include the Woof & Whisker Market and a post-race village at The Village Green. This area hosts a Pup Parade with prizes for Best Costume, Cutest Pup, and Best Personality, as well as local pet-themed vendors and food.
Parking is available next to the Recreation Center at Palos Community Church on 88th Ave. The event proceeds rain or shine, except in cases where staff deem weather conditions unsafe. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
