16th Annual Race for Parkinson's
The Race for Parkinson's is an annual community event held in Bismarck, North Dakota, to support individuals affected by Parkinson's Disease. This event takes place at the Sertoma Park Community Shelter, located near the amusement park. All proceeds are directed toward the Bismarck Parkinson's Support Group to fund local exercise programs and educational events for families.
Participants can choose from several distances and participation styles:
- 5K Run: A competitive running event.
- 5K Walk: A non-competitive walking option.
- 1 Mile Family Walk: A shorter distance intended for families.
- Kids Fun Dash: A short race for children aged 12 and under.
- Virtual Run/Walk: An option for those unable to attend in person.
The event features a brief program including the National Anthem before the start of the athletic activities. Registered children participating in the Kids Fun Dash receive a gift card. Those who register by the April 9th deadline are guaranteed an event t-shirt. The 10K distance is not included in this edition due to bridge construction on River Road, with organizers encouraging long-distance runners to participate in the 5K instead.
