Race for Life Wakefield at Thornes Park
Race for Life Wakefield is a charity running event held at Thornes Park in Wakefield. Available distances are 10k, 5k, and 3k. The event is open to people aged 16 and over. A minimum fundraising target of £50.00 applies. Standard entry fees listed are £17.49 for adults and £11.00 for children.
The course starts and finishes on grass, which can be uneven. The route combines surfaced paths, woodland trails and undulating grassed areas and includes rolling hills and uphill gradients. The 10k route consists of two laps of the 5k course.
Facilities on site include refreshments, toilets and dogs are allowed. The event is not suitable for pushchairs and has no bag drop or showers. Organisers have assessed the course as not wheelchair accessible because of terrain and elevations; nearby accessible events are listed as Barnsley, Huddersfield and Bradford.
Travel notes state there is no designated event parking at the venue; town centre pay and display car parks are about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Blue badge parking and volunteer parking are available in the Athletics Stadium car park with a short walk to the site. The nearest train station is Wakefield Westgate, around a 10 to 15 minute walk. Bus links serve the city centre on Saturdays.
