Wakefield 10k - Race for Life
The event takes place at Thornes Park, Horbury Road, Wakefield WF2 8TY. The start and finish are on the playing field near the children's playground; the what3words location for the start is ///puzzle.loads.sheep.

The course combines tarmac, woodland paths and undulating grassed areas. The start and finish are on grass which can be uneven. The route includes rolling hills, sloping downhills and uphill gradients, and in wet weather grass and woodland paths may become muddy or slippery. The 10k is a double lap of the 5k course.
Practical details: there is no designated event parking at the venue; town centre pay and display car parks are approximately a 10 to 15 minute walk away. The car park by the Athletics Stadium is closed to participants. Blue badge parking is available in the Athletics Stadium car park, approximately 100 m from the event site on grass. The nearest train station is Wakefield Westgate, about a 10 to 15 minute walk. Wakefield Free City Bus links Westgate and Kirkgate stations with services every 10 minutes on Saturdays between 08:30 and 17:00. There are no bike racks.
Facilities listed as available include refreshments, toilets and permission for dogs. The event is not wheelchair accessible. A minimum fundraising target of £50 applies. Earlybird entry prices listed are £8.74 for aged 16 & over and £5.50 for children. The event is organised by Cancer Research UK. Participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support, access to an online community, and a Race for Life medal on finishing.
