Stockport 5k - Race for Life 2027

The Stockport 5k is a Race for Life event organised by Cancer Research UK at Woodbank Memorial Park, Turncroft Lane, Offerton, Stockport SK1 4JR. The event offers community running on park paths and open grassland.

The route passes through Woodbank Park meadows and woodland and enters Vernon Park, noted for its Victorian heritage features. Participants run a 400 m lap of an athletics track as part of the course. The surface is mainly paths with some grass; some paths are uneven and can become muddy and slippery in poor weather. The route includes significant inclines and declines, with a maximum gradient of 20 percent. The start and finish areas are located in the field within the centre of Woodbank Park; these areas are on flat, soft grass that may become muddy when wet.

Travel and parking information notes event parking at two car parks off Turncroft Lane (Woodbank Park Car Park on Little Moor Lane and Woodbank/Vernon Park Car Park near Vernon Park Cafe). Vernon Park Car Park off Stockport Road is also available but involves a considerable walk with steep uphill sections. Blue badge parking is available at the two car parks off Turncroft Lane. Drop offs can be made at Woodbank/Vernon Park Car Park. There are no electric charging points and no cycle parking. The nearest bus stop is on Turncroft Lane, about a 10-minute walk. Stockport and Bredbury train stations are approximately 1.1 miles and 2 miles away respectively.

Facilities listed as available include refreshments, toilets, allowance for dogs, and suitability for pushchairs. Showers and bag drop are not available and the 5k event is not wheelchair accessible; the 3k is wheelchair accessible with assistance. Entry fees are shown as £7.99 for adults and £5.50 for children and a minimum fundraising target of £50 is indicated.
