Race for Life events at The Quarry in Shrewsbury offer 3k and 5k options on Sunday 30 May 2027. The venue is a 29-acre park on the bank of the River Severn that includes open green spaces and the Dingle garden. The start and finish are on a grass field next to the swimming pool within the park.
The 5km course includes four short climbs, each about 200 m long, with an average gradient of 5.7%. The route runs on a mixture of well maintained paths and grass. Grass sections can become boggy in wet weather but can be avoided; avoiding the grass will shorten the course. An alternative route option is four out-and-back laps along the riverside to avoid the inclines.
Practical details: the nearest public car park is Frankwell, about 0.5 miles from the site and free on Sundays. The nearest bus station is 0.5 miles away and the railway station is about 0.6 miles away. The closest park entrance for pedestrians is via Victoria Avenue; drop offs are possible at the gate on Victoria Avenue, around 100 m from the event area. There are no electric vehicle charging points and no designated event parking or volunteer parking.
