Reading Pretty Muddy 5k
The event is a 5k Pretty Muddy obstacle course held at Prospect Park, Liebenrood Road, Reading, RG30 2ND. The course starts and finishes on grass and is predominantly on grass with some steep slopes and sections of woodland. Obstacles involve climbing, crawling and sliding, and the published course map may be subject to change.
Start waves are staggered every 15 minutes to manage numbers on the route, and groups are asked to use the same wave time. The start and finish are located on the central grass field of the park near the tennis courts, cafe and ranger station. Participants are asked to listen for announcements for warm up and course instructions.
The event is for people aged 13 and older. A separate Pretty Muddy Kids option exists for children aged 12 and under. The event is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs. Dogs are not allowed on site.
Facilities on the day include refreshments, toilets and parking. Blue Badge parking is available at the car park next to the ranger station; general parking is limited and an alternative pay and display car park is available at Meadway Shopping Centre. There are no electric vehicle charging points. Public transport options include nearby bus routes and a train station about a 15 minute walk away. Cycle routes pass through the park and cycle racks are provided near the artificial pitches.
Participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support materials, access to an online community and a Race for Life medal. The minimum fundraising target is £50 and listed entry prices are Adults £22.49 and Children £12.00. The event is organised by Cancer Research UK.
