The start and finish are on grass on the main field opposite the lake. The majority of the route is on grass; the middle section follows hardstanding park paths that pass the lake and the play park. In wet weather the grass sections may become soft or muddy.
Facilities listed for the event include refreshments and toilets. Dogs are allowed. The site is suitable for pushchairs and is wheelchair accessible with assistance. Bag drop, showers and on-site parking are not available at South Park; town centre car parks are a short walk away. Drop off is noted at the bottom of Bedford Street and the train station is approximately a 15 minute walk.
The event lists entry pricing and a minimum fundraising target: earlybird entry for people aged 16 and over from £7.99, earlybird children from £5.50, and a minimum fundraising target of £50. Participants are said to receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support and a Race for Life medal at the finish.
