Race For Hope DC
Race For Hope DC is a 5K walk/run in Washington, DC held at Freedom Plaza. The event brings together the brain tumor community to raise awareness and funds for brain tumor research and to support patients and families. The main activity is a 5K (3.1 mi) walk or run.
Event elements include an Opening Ceremony with presentations and awards, a Survivor Tribute along Pennsylvania Avenue, and a Kids Fun Run of approximately 75 yards where all child participants receive a medal. A Wall of Hope tribute on Freedom Plaza displays photos honoring survivors and those remembered; one entry per honoree is allowed and print submissions may not exceed 8 by 10 inches, with a submission deadline of April 19, 2026.
Participation options allow timed runners, untimed runners, and walkers. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome and service animals are permitted; pets are not allowed. Water is provided at the halfway point of the 5K and at Freedom Plaza, and light snacks and ice cream are available. The event takes place rain or shine.
In-person registration may include an event t-shirt for those who register prior to April 3, 2026. Virtual participation is available with no registration fee; virtual participants who raise $75 by April 3, 2026 may receive an event t-shirt. Registration fees include adult walker $30, youth walker (12 and under) $5, timed runner $40, youth timed runner $20, and volunteers free.
