Race for Education 5K and 1 Mile
The Race for Education includes a 5K and a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run. It raises funds for the Spotsylvania Education Foundation, which supports student learning in Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options. The in-person races take place on September 12, 2026, at Massaponax High School in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The in-person Kids 1 Mile Fun Run is open only to participants ages 12 and under. The virtual 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk can be completed at any location between September 12 and 13, 2026.
Race bibs and t-shirts are available for pickup on September 10, 11, and the morning of the in-person race. Registrations must be received by September 1, 2026 to guarantee a t-shirt.
Awards are given for the 5K for the top three overall men and women, as well as the top three boys and girls in specific age groups. All youth participants in the 1 Mile Fun Run will receive a participation medal. The event also includes a school challenge for elementary, middle, and high schools.
