Race for Education 5K and 1 Mile
The Race for Education is a community event held in Fredericksburg, Virginia, designed to support student learning within the Spotsylvania County Public Schools through the Spotsylvania Education Foundation. The event features both in-person and virtual participation options, allowing for a wide range of involvement over the course of the race weekend from September 11 to September 13.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K (In-person and virtual options)
- 1 Mile (In-person for students 12 and under; virtual for all ages)
The in-person races take place at 8201 Patriot Highway on September 12. The 1 Mile in-person event is restricted to students aged 12 and under, while the 5K is open to the general public. For those choosing the virtual format, participants may run or walk at any location between Friday and Sunday. The virtual event includes access to the RaceJoy app for tracking distance and time, and the submission of results is optional.
Race materials, including bibs and t-shirts, are provided to participants. T-shirts are guaranteed for those who register by August 30, 2026. In the event that the in-person portion cannot proceed, all registrations will transition to the virtual format. The funds raised through this event support innovative projects and educational programs for students and employees in the local school district.
