Event
The Race Against Hunger in Newfane, NY is an inaugural community running event organized by the Newfane Lions Club. The event includes a 5K run and a 1 Km fun walk/run. Proceeds will benefit the Newfane Community Food Pantry and the First Baptist Church Food Pantry. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations on race day.
Logistics, awards and services
The start and finish lines are located behind Newfane Town Hall at 2737 Main Street, Newfane, NY 14108. Online registration is offered and race shirts are guaranteed for those who register by the stated cutoff; a limited number of extra shirts will be available on race day. Entry fees listed for the event are $25 to $30 for the 5K and $20 to $25 for the 1 Km fun run; children 12 and under may participate in the fun run for free without a shirt.
Trophies will be presented to the overall male and female 5K winners and finisher medals will be given to all 5K runners. Age groups are 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older. Timing will use Jaguar Electronic RFID timing and results, photos, and custom finisher certificates will be available after the race. There will be free street parking near the start and a post-race gathering with bottled water, music, snacks, and food vendors.
