R5k Run/Walk and Recovery Celebration
Nevada's Recovery and Prevention (NRAP) organizes the 2026 R5k Run/Walk and Recovery Celebration on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Snowflake Pavilion in Idlewild Park, Reno, Nevada. The event promotes community health and wellness, celebrates individuals in recovery, and aims to reduce stigma associated with substance use and behavioral health disorders. Participants may walk or run in honor of someone impacted by substance use.
A post-race recovery celebration is free and open to the public regardless of 5K participation. The celebration includes food, family activities, live music, guest speakers and advocates in recovery, vendors, raffle, and information from community organizations about local services. The course starts and finishes near the Snowflake Pavilion, follows the Crooked Mile path along the north side of the Truckee River to Ivan Sack Park and returns along the same route. A water station is located at the turnaround and is sponsored by Reno Running Company.
Registration fees include a racing bib and timing, t-shirt, medal, and breakfast. Adult pricing varies by registration period, youth pricing applies for ages 6 to 17, and children under six may participate free without an official race t-shirt or timing. Registering by September 8 guarantees an official race t-shirt. Sponsor entry for a runner in recovery is available for a $40 donation and is tax-deductible. Volunteer opportunities are part of the event organization. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
