Event details
NRAP’s R5k Run/Walk and Recovery Celebration is scheduled for September 26, 2026, at the Snowflake Pavilion in Idlewild Park, Reno, Nevada. The event includes a 5K run/walk followed by a recovery celebration that is free and open to the public regardless of 5K participation. Registration for the 2026 event is planned to open in early 2026.
Course and on-site features
The course starts and finishes near the Snowflake Pavilion and follows the Crooked Mile path west along the north side of the Truckee River to Ivan Sack Park, where participants turn around and return along the same route. A water station is located at the turnaround point in Ivan Sack Park. The recovery celebration will include music, food, family activities, guest speakers and community vendors; community organizations will provide information on local services.
Purpose and additional information
The event is organized to mark National Recovery Month, to promote community health and wellness, and to reduce stigma associated with substance use. NRAP describes its mission as providing peer support and connections for students recovering from substance and behavioral addictions and for students choosing a substance-free lifestyle. A $35 donation is listed as a way to sponsor the entry fee for someone in recovery; sponsorships and exhibitor opportunities are noted for the event.
