R5k Run/Walk and Recovery Celebration
Nevada’s Recovery and Prevention (NRAP) presents an annual R5k Run/Walk and Recovery Celebration on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Idlewild Park’s Snowflake Pavilion, 1450 Idlewild Dr, Reno, NV 89509. The event gathers community members to observe Recovery Month, promote health and wellness, and reduce stigma associated with substance use and mental health conditions.
The event includes a 5K run/walk that starts and finishes near the Snowflake Pavilion and follows the Crooked Mile path along the north side of the Truckee River to Ivan Sack Park, where participants turn around and return. A water station sponsored by Reno Running Company is located at the turnaround point. A post-run recovery celebration open to the public will feature food, family activities, local guest speakers and advocates in recovery, live music, vendors, and information from community organizations about local services.
Registration options cover race entry, timing, an official t-shirt, a medal, and breakfast. Fee tiers vary by age and registration date; children under six may participate in a kids fun run free of charge but will not receive official timing or a race t-shirt. Registrations submitted by September 8 are guaranteed an official race t-shirt. Sponsors may fund entry fees for runners in recovery through a tax-deductible donation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
