Quiet Silence - Lake Mills, WI
Quiet Silence takes place on December 18, 2026 in Lake Mills, WI, and is organized by TYDISH Running. The event offers night running on a flat crushed limestone rails-to-trails corridor that is wide and has almost no technical obstacles. It is set in late-season conditions where cold, darkness, and variable weather are expected.
Distances offered:
- 31 miler
- 16 miler
The course is an out-and-back format. For the 16 mile distance the halfway mark is the turnaround; fluids and light snacks will be available there and a drop bag location is provided and returned to the start/finish area. The 31 mile turnaround will feature a full aid station with hot and cold drinks, food, a covered lit tent, chairs, heaters, and volunteers. Drop bags are available at the 16 mile turnaround which 31 mile participants pass twice. Portable toilets are provided at the start and at the 31 mile turnaround; there is no toilet at the 16 mile turnaround.
Event rules and support details note that noisy noisemakers are not allowed, the organizer will not serve alcohol, and aid stations will be cupless so participants must bring their own vessels. Per DNR safety guidelines participants must wear two rear-facing and one forward-facing red light with a blinking option and carry at least 10 square inches of reflective material on both front and back outer layers; these items will be checked during pre-race packet pickup. Finishers receive a token rather than a medal, and the top three men and top three women in each distance receive an additional gift. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
