Event overview

Queen of the Ridge is a Last Woman Standing trail event held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at a family farm in Arena, Wisconsin (5749 County Road H). Registration opens January 1, 2026. The event uses a repeated loop format based on the backyard ultra model, with participants running the loop repeatedly until only one woman remains.

Course and rules

The loop is typically between 1.0 and 1.25 miles and includes at least 250 ft of elevation gain. The surface is a mix of single track and grass trails. The route changes direction every four hours. Key rules: runners must complete each loop within 20 minutes to remain in the event; runners must be in the starting corral at the start of each loop; whistle signals indicate time to the next start; no aid may be received on course or outside the corral; a solo victory lap is required to be declared the winner.

Logistics and support

The central basecamp, called the Commonwealth Village, will house the starting corral, participant tent, aid station, medical tent, restrooms, spectator viewing, and limited crew tent space. Crew tents are limited to 10 and must be requested at registration on a first-come, first-serve basis. The aid station will offer fruit, sweet and salty snacks, hot food, hydration and nutrition products, coffee, and soda.

Community and policies

Driftless Endurance will donate $0.10 per completed lap to support planning and building of the Driftless Trail, led by the Driftless Area Land Conservancy. Camping is allowed overnight on Saturday only for participants; tents and small camper vans are permitted, but RVs and pull-behinds are not. The standard registration policy is typically final with possible partial refunds if notified at least 60 days in advance; this race offers a full refund for entrants who become pregnant and choose not to participate. Transfers between participants can be facilitated, with payment arrangements handled by the participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
