Broken Rock Trail Runs
The Broken Rock Trail Runs take place at Bethel Horizons in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. The event is set within the Driftless Area, a region characterized by rugged bluffs and untamed landscapes. The course consists of a 10-mile loop that includes a variety of surfaces such as mountain bike singletrack, grass paths, hiking trails, and small sections of pavement and gravel. A notable feature of the route is the Broken Rock Trail, a steep rock-stair climb located near the end of the loop.
Participants can choose from three distance options:
- 50K: Three loops totaling approximately 30.75 miles with 3,300 feet of elevation gain.
- 20 Miler: Two loops totaling approximately 20.5 miles with 2,200 feet of elevation gain.
- 10 Miler: One loop totaling approximately 10.25 miles with 1,100 feet of elevation gain.
The event is cup-less, requiring runners to carry their own hydration vessels. Two fully stocked aid stations are available per loop, providing water, hydration drinks, and various snacks. The 50K and 20 Miler distances allow for drop bags and crew access at the main aid station. For the 50K distance, pacers are permitted for the final lap.
The route is marked with orange stakes, flags, and signs. A 9-hour cutoff applies to the 50K, while the 20 Miler and 10 Miler have a 5-hour limit. Registered participants receive a long-sleeve performance shirt and a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
