Join a spring evening of racing on the Newcastle Quayside. The flat, measured 5k course offers views of the Tyne and passes historic bridges before finishing at Baltic Square. The event also features a junior 3k and a kids 1km race.

Quayside 5k & Junior Races

The event takes place on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, in Gateshead, UK. The programme includes several races:

5k A Race and 5k B Race
Junior Quayside 3k
Kids Race 1km

The 5k course is flat, World Athletics measured, and runs along the Quayside path. Runners pass landmarks including the Swing Bridge, High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge, and Redheugh Bridge. The finish line is at Baltic Square, crossing the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

The event is delivered in partnership with Wallsend Harriers & AC. It also serves as the NECAA Championships and hosts the Wallsend Harriers Terry O’Gara Trophy. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
