Quayside 5K (Spring) & Junior Races, Gateshead, 22 April 2026

This event on Wednesday 22 April 2026 in Gateshead includes a main 5K race plus junior and kids distances. The organiser is RunThrough in partnership with Wallsend Harriers & AC. The Quayside 5K also serves as the NECAA Championships and hosts the Wallsend Harriers Terry O’Gara Trophy, attracting leading regional athletes.

The route is flat and World Athletics measured. Runners follow the Quayside path with views of the River Tyne, passing the Swing Bridge, the High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge and Redheugh Bridge. The course crosses the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and finishes in Baltic Square with the city skyline behind the finish area. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals guide runners around the course.
