Event overview

Quayside 5K (Spring) & Junior Races take place on Wednesday 22 April 2026 in Gateshead, UK. The event is organised by RunThrough in partnership with Wallsend Harriers & AC. The programme includes a 5K race, a junior 3K and a U11 kids 1km race. The Quayside 5K also serves as the NECAA Championships and attracts athletes from across the region.

Route and event village

The course is flat and World Athletics measured. The route follows the Quayside path along the River Tyne, passing the Swing Bridge and running beneath the High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge and Redheugh Bridge. The race crosses the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and finishes in Baltic Square with the skyline behind the finish area. The event village offers food and drink options and post-race goodies from partners.
