2026 PVTC Christmas Caper
The PVTC Christmas Caper takes place on December 19, 2026 at East Potomac Park in Washington, DC, near 972 Ohio Drive SW. The event offers two road race distances:
- 5K
- 10K
The course is flat, walker and wheelchair friendly, and runs on paved roads. Routes use one or two out-and-back segments along Ohio Drive and around Hains Point. The 10K consists of the same loop repeated with a designated turnaround on the second lap. Participants gather near the park entrance and finish under a start/finish banner.
Online registration closes on December 16. On-site packet pickup is available before the race; there is no race-day registration. Race size is about 100 entrants in each event and entrants are limited to one race. Awards are given as Christmas ornaments for the top three finishers in each 10-year age group for men and women, with additional awards for racewalkers. Post-race refreshments are provided.
The event is organized by the Potomac Valley Track Club and is part of the 2026 Ed Barron Holiday Series, a set of local races held at East Potomac Park and other nearby parks in the Washington DC and Arlington VA area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
