PVTC Christmas Caper

The PVTC Christmas Caper is a road running event organized by the Potomac Valley Track Club as part of the Ed Barron Holiday Series. The event takes place at East Potomac Park in Washington, DC, and offers two different distances for participants:

  • 5K
  • 10K

The course is located at 972 Ohio Drive SW and consists of a flat, paved route that is accessible for walkers and wheelchair users. Participants in the 5K run or race walk complete one segment along Ohio Drive, traveling around Hains Point to a turnaround point before returning to the finish line. Those participating in the 10K distance follow a similar path but complete the loop twice, turning at designated cones near the finish line to begin their second lap.

Ample free parking is available south of the Jefferson Memorial at the East Potomac Park Golf Course. The race environment is small, with approximately 100 participants expected in each race. On-site packet pickup is available on the morning of the event, though there is no race-day registration.

Participants can receive awards in the form of Christmas ornaments, which are presented to the top three finishers in 10-year age groups for both men and women, as well as for racewalkers. Post-race refreshments are provided for participants after they cross the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
