About the race
The EOD Fairfax Turkey Trot is a post-Thanksgiving running event at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston, VA, held on November 29. It offers both a 5k and a 10k, with the 10k being two laps of the 5k course.
The course is described as hilly with some technical trail sections. About one third of the route is an out-and-back segment at the beginning and end of the race. Water stations are placed approximately at mile markers along each course: three water stations on the 5k and six on the 10k, with Gatorade available at some stations. Port-a-johns are available around the park.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed only for runners registered before November 16; additional shirts are available first-come first-served. Registration fees vary by distance and increase after November 15; race day registration is also offered but t-shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for those registrants.
The event awards the top three men and women overall and age-group awards across standard age brackets; top three overall finishers are not eligible to also win age-group prizes. Points from the race count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Fall Series. A virtual race option is available. The event partners with the EOD Warrior Foundation in support of the EOD community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
