Putnam County Classic
The Putnam County Classic returns to the Town of Mahopac on July 4, 2026. Proceeds support the Mahopac Fire Department and the previous edition raised $4,000. The event is staged at the Town of Carmel property at 179 E. Lake Blvd, across from the Mahopac Fire Department.
The course is a 5.3 mile loop around Lake Mahopac. The route runs west along the lake and through the town center, with a generally flat first half followed by runs along the west and north shores that include uphill sections. The final mile passes the Mahopac Golf Course and finishes on Croton Falls Road.
Parking is available at the firehouse and the starting line is on Croton Falls Road between Route 6 and E. Lake Blvd. Registration opens April 8 and closes June 4. Fees are $35 through June 4, $40 through July 3, and $45 on race day. Race day registration is available. Taconic Road Runner members receive a $5 discount. Youth pricing is $10 for ages up to 13 and $15 for ages 14 to 18; youth entries do not receive the club discount.
Shirts, hats, and swag bags are guaranteed to the first 350 registrants. Medals are awarded to overall and age group winners, and locally made finisher medals are guaranteed to the first 400 finishers. An awards ceremony will be held on the waterfront across from registration. The event includes food vendors, music, refreshments, hot egg sandwiches for runners, and free beer or brunch style drinks for participants over 21. Special prizes are planned for oldest and youngest runners, most patriotic, sweatiest, and the participant who traveled the furthest. A pre race email will provide full event information.
