Purple Leash 5K & Fun Run
The Purple Leash 5K & Fun Run is a community running event at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Missouri, on October 11, 2026. The event offers timed competitive 5K races and a 1-mile fun run and walk, each available in both dog-friendly and humans-only entries.

The 5K course and the 1-mile route run on paved roads that may have uneven surfaces and include about 50 feet of elevation change. Water stations for both humans and dogs are available along the route. Each human participant receives a chipped timing bib; dogs receive a leash bib and both human and dog are listed in results.
Event services include packet pickup at Big River Running (Thursday, October 8, 12:00–18:00) and at Purina Farms on the event day. There is a TAILgate after party with a winner's podium, music, food and drinks, yard games, and refreshments for registered participants aged 21 and over receive one drink ticket. Registered participants receive an event t-shirt, treats, and Purple Leash Project swag.
Entry fees follow a tiered schedule: $35 through September 20, $40 September 21 to October 4, and $45 October 5 to October 10. Advanced registration is required; onsite registration is not available.
Rules for participating dogs are strict: dogs must be vaccinated, wear a visible rabies ID tag, be at least six months old, and be on a leash no longer than 6 ft. Retractable leashes and spiked collars are prohibited. Only one dog per runner and the runner must be at least 16 years old. Owners are responsible for their dog’s conduct and for cleaning up any mess. Failure to comply may result in expulsion without refund.
A donation element is included: Nestlé Purina PetCare will donate $5.00 to RedRover for each event registration received between August 11 and October 11, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
