Event Overview

The Pure Water Days Races are held annually in August as part of the Pure Water Days Festival in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Organized by the Chippewa Falls YMCA, the event serves as a fundraiser for the YMCA Annual Campaign, which supports sponsored memberships and program scholarships for the local community. The races start and finish at the Chippewa Falls YMCA, with various courses transitioning through residential areas and local landmarks such as Irvine Park and Erickson Park.

The event features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants:

  • Half Marathon: A timed race on blacktop roads through the countryside and Irvine Park.
  • 2 Person Half Marathon Relay: A team event splitting the half marathon distance into legs of 7.7 miles and 5.4 miles.
  • 4 Mile Walk/Run: A scenic route through Irvine Park accessible to runners, walkers, and wheelchair participants.
  • 2 Mile Untimed: A walk through Erickson Park and over the local bridge.
  • 1 Mile Walk/Run: A loop around the YMCA block for all ages.
  • Kids 200 Meter Dash: A short sprint for children aged 8 and under.

Participant Information

All participants who complete their respective distances receive a finisher medal. T-shirts are provided to those who register by the mid-July deadline. The event includes support infrastructure such as seven water stations for the half marathon and two for the 4-mile race. High school facilities are also utilized for bathrooms and as an exchange point for the relay teams. Packet pick-up is available on the Friday evening prior to the event and on the morning of the races.

Through the Mission Milers program, participants may choose to engage in additional fundraising. Proceeds from these efforts and general registrations help the YMCA provide community access to health and wellness programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
