Pure Water Days Races at Chippewa Falls YMCA
The Pure Water Days Races are an annual set of road and park races held in August at the Chippewa Falls YMCA as part of the Pure Water Days Festival. The event offers multiple distance options and awards a finisher medal to every participant. Race shirts are guaranteed for those who register by July 15, 2026. Proceeds support the YMCA Annual Campaign, which provides sponsored memberships and program scholarships.
Race options include:
- Half marathon
- Two person half marathon relay
- Four mile walk or run
- Two mile untimed route
- One mile walk or run
- Kids 200 meter dash for ages eight and under
Course notes describe routes that start and finish at the YMCA, with the half marathon following blacktop roads through countryside and Irvine Park. The two mile route passes through Erickson Park and a new bridge before finishing in Irvine Park alongside the four mile runners. The one mile course loops around the YMCA block. The four mile event welcomes strollers and participants using wheelchairs.
Aid and facilities: the four mile race has two aid stations with Premium Waters bottled water and the half marathon has seven water stations. Bathrooms are available at the Chippewa Falls YMCA, and additional bathrooms are provided at McDonell High School for half marathon runners. The half marathon relay exchange is at McDonell High School; the first relay leg covers 7.7 miles and the second leg covers 5.4 miles. Relay teams are responsible for their own exchange transportation, and the second relay runner must wear the race bib for accurate timing. Packet pick-up is available Friday for pre-registered participants and on race morning. If the race is cancelled, refunds are not issued and a virtual option will be offered.
Fundraising option Mission Milers lets participants raise additional funds for the YMCA Annual Campaign. Donation levels listed for Mission Milers are Change Maker one hundred dollars, Impact Builder two hundred fifty dollars, and Mission Champion five hundred dollars; participants who fundraise receive a thank-you gift and race-day recognition.
