Puppy Love 5K Run/Walk
The Puppy Love 5K is the fourth annual dog-friendly 5-kilometer run or walk held in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, at Palmetto Islands County Park. The event allows well socialized dogs on leash; dogs must remain leashed and handlers are limited to one dog each. Participants running with dogs should be prepared to clean up after their animals.
Distances include:
- 5K - adult run or walk, dog-friendly
- Kids 5K - free for ages 10 and under; must be accompanied and not timed
Participants who register as paid entrants receive a race t-shirt and a matching bandana for their dog and will be officially timed. Children registered under the free kids category do not receive a t-shirt and are not officially timed. There are awards for top finishers running with a dog plus themed and novelty prizes such as Best Sweetheart Squad, Best Butt Wiggle, and a Grand Master Award. Prizes are sponsored by a local pet shop.
Post-race activities include an owner-and-dog 100-yard dash and refreshments for humans and dogs. The event supports local animal rescue organizations and offers packet pick up at a local endurance store the day before the race and at the park on race day.
