Punk Panther New Year Half & Marathon
The event is a trail race based in Otley, centred on the Green Gateways long distance walk that links parks and green spaces around North Leeds. The route includes views from The Chevin, and passes Yeadon Banks, Yeadon Tarn and Danefield Woods. The Marathon route also visits The Billing and follows a section of the River Aire.
Distances
- Half Marathon: 14.0 miles, 1535 ft climb
- Marathon: 26.2 miles, 3276 ft climb
Registration takes place at the Bridge United Reform Church side entrance in Otley. There are toilets at registration and a designated event car park near Bremner Street opposite ASDA. The organisers will tape and sign the route in advance but advise not to rely solely on tape for navigation.
There are three checkpoints on the course. The Marathon visits all three checkpoints; the Half Marathon visits the middle checkpoint only. Checkpoints provide drinks, snacks and energy products with vegan and gluten free options. If a runner arrives at a closed checkpoint they will be retired from the race.
All marathon entrants receive a tracker; half marathon entrants may hire a tracker for a fee. Trackers show live positions and include an emergency button that, if used in range, ends the runner's race. A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks may be carried out; failure to carry required kit will result in disqualification.
Entries open 1 July 2026 and close 6 December 2026. Entry fees are listed for each distance. Minimum age is 18, maximum field 200. Dogs are permitted on the course subject to event rules but are not allowed inside registration or the finish area. Every finisher receives a medal and an event T shirt unless they opt out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
