Punk Panther New Year Trail Marathon & Half Marathon : Green Gateways, Otley
The event is a trail marathon and half marathon held in Otley on Saturday 2 January 2027. Distances offered:
- 14.0 miles (Half Marathon)
- 26.2 miles (Marathon)
The route follows the Green Gateways trail around north Leeds and visits The Chevin, Yeadon Banks, Yeadon Tarn and Danefield Woods. The marathon route also includes The Billing and a section along the River Aire. Total climb is listed as 1535 feet for the half and 3276 feet for the marathon.
There are three checkpoints on the marathon course; the half marathon visits the checkpoint at Cookridge only. Checkpoints provide drinks, energy bars and snacks, with vegan and gluten free options available on request. Marathon entrants are supplied with a tracker; half marathon runners may hire a tracker for a fee of £15. The tracker shows live positions on the event tracker screen and includes an emergency button that, when pressed in range, ends the race for that runner.
Minimum age is 18 and maximum entrants are 200. Early bird and closing dates are given; entries are not accepted on the day. Registration and finish are at The Bridge United Reform Church, Cattlemarket Street, Otley. A kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks may be carried out; competitors must carry required safety items and a hard copy of the route description.
