Providence College Friar 5K
The Providence College Friar 5K is an annual five kilometer event held on October 3, 2026 as part of Homecoming weekend at Providence College. The course is a 3.1-mile USA Track and Field sanctioned loop around the Providence College campus with the start and finish located near Harkins Hall and Cunningham Square in Providence, RI.
Registration is offered for individuals and teams, and there is an in-person race plus a Virtual 5K option. Entry fees shown for this edition include a standard category for alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and friends at $39.75, a student and youth category at $29.00, and a virtual entry at $23.63. A cotton race t-shirt is included with the entrance fee; t-shirt sizes are distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Walk-in registration is available on Saturday morning and onsite t-shirts are limited.
Children under 12 may accompany a parent or guardian on the 5K course; a separate Fun Run for young children is held on Ray Tracey Track. Virtual participants can submit results online during the window from the Wednesday before the event through the Tuesday after the event.
