About the race
Providence College Friar 5K is scheduled for October 3, 2026 at Harkins Hall, Cunningham Square, Providence, RI. The event is held as part of Homecoming weekend and takes place on a course sanctioned by USA Track and Field that loops around the Providence College campus. The main distance is 5K (3.1 miles).
The event is open to students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and members of the public. Participants may register individually or as part of a team. Registration fees differ by participant category; a cotton race t-shirt is included with the entrance fee and sizes are allocated on a first come, first served basis. Walk-in registration is available on race day and t-shirts are limited for on site registrants. The event will occur rain or shine.
There is a Fun Run on Ray Tracey Track recommended for children under 12; children under 12 may also accompany a parent or guardian on the 5K course. A virtual participation option is available, with virtual results accepted and a virtual leaderboard maintained. The headline sponsor for the event is Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island.
