Providence College Friar 5K
The Providence College Friar 5K takes place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Harkins Hall, Cunningham Square, Providence, RI, as a signature event during Homecoming weekend. The course is a USA Track and Field sanctioned loop of 3.1 miles around the Providence College campus. The event is open to students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and the public; participants may register as individuals or as teams. A virtual 5K option is offered.
Race registration includes a cotton race t-shirt while supplies last; t-shirt sizes are distributed on a first come, first served basis. Registrants who pick up their bib on Friday receive a voucher to eat at Ray that evening. Walk-in registration is available on Saturday morning, with limited onsite t-shirts. The event proceeds rain or shine.
There is a separate children’s Fun Run on Ray Traecy Track; children under 12 may also accompany a parent or guardian on the 5K course. Participants who choose the virtual option can submit results from the Wednesday prior to the event through the Tuesday after the event. Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is the event headline sponsor.
