Preseli Beast
The Preseli Beast comprises a series of three off-road fell races set in the Preseli hills, North Pembrokeshire, West Wales. Routes share the same start and finish and include the Preselis' highest point, Foel Cwmcerwyn. Course terrain includes trail, fell, wooded paths, boggy sections and steep climbs. The 24-mile race includes water and feed stations at roughly five-mile intervals.
Distances:
- Beast Bach: 10.8 miles, 1,700 ft ascent
- Preseli Beast: approx 24 miles, 4,600 ft ascent
- UltraBeasT: new course under construction
The Beast Bach is fully marked and has one water/aid station at about five miles. The Preseli Beast route passes through the steep-sided wooded Gwaun valley, offers views from Carn Ingli over Newport Bay, and includes a feature referred to as the Beast's Lair.
Prizes are awarded by category with at least a prize for the winner in each listed class, including male/open and female age groups 18-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.
WFRA safety requirements apply. Competitors must have the skills and experience to complete the chosen race and comply with the Race Organiser's instructions. Mandatory kit for the Preseli Beast and UltraBeasT includes full waterproof top and bottoms, a map covering the route, compass, whistle, water container, gloves, and a hat or buff. Kit requirements for the Beast Bach may be reduced depending on conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
