Pendine Sands Races

Event
The Pendine Sands Races take place on Pendine beach on 5 April 2026. Races are all held on firm sand on a common out-and-back course that is 3.28 miles (5.28 km) one way. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and category winners receive trophies. The event is cup-free; competitors must bring a re-useable cup for water stations.
Race format and distances
The same marked course is used for all race distances. Specific formats are:
- 5k - 2.5 km out and back.
- 10k - one full out and back, total about 10.5 km.
- Half Marathon - two full out and backs.
- Marathon - four full out and backs.
- Ultra - five full out and backs, total 32.8 miles.
The full course turning point is at 5.28 km down the beach. Water stations are self-serve and located at the start/finish, the 2.5 km midpoint (used twice), and the 5.28 km turning point.
Logistics and rules
Start and finish are next to Barnacles Cafe, Sea View, Pendine, SA33 4NY (what3words ///steepest.daisy.leafing). Race start times and time limits depend on tide tables and will be confirmed in advance. Organisers state entrants must meet age limits and note a general minimum age requirement of 20 years on race day. Entry fees are published per distance. Entries are non-refundable; transfers or deferrals are allowed up to four weeks before the event. Mandatory kit, checkpoint procedures, and a 4.0 mph average pace policy apply for time control.
