Pendine Sands Races
The Pendine Sands Races, held at Pendine Beach in Wales, offer runners the unique experience of racing on firm, flat sands famously used for land speed records. The event features 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon distances, all run along the beach with out-and-back courses marked by race marshals. The Half Marathon includes a short out-and-back section before running the full length of the beach and returning to the start.
The firm sand surface is ideal for barefoot running. The races are cup-free, requiring participants to bring reusable cups for water stations. All finishers receive bespoke medals, and top male and female runners are awarded prizes.
The event is governed by tide schedules to ensure safe racing conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
