Annual Prefontaine Memorial Run
The Annual Prefontaine Memorial Run in Coos Bay is a road running event featuring a main 10K race and a shorter walking option. The course is described as rolling and hilly and follows an out and back route that begins in downtown Coos Bay at the corner of 4th and Anderson.
Distances include:
- 10K road race
- 2 mile walk
The event offers prize money in both the men’s and women’s categories: $500 for first place, $300 for second, and $200 for third. Chip timing is used for races and for the 2 mile fun walk. A limited number of commemorative medals are available for finishers, and an event t-shirt is included with entry and distributed with race packets.
A virtual participation option is available; virtual participants may complete and document their run within a week of the event date. Registration can be completed online, by mail to Prefontaine Memorial Run, P.O. Box 1380, Coos Bay, OR 97420, or in person at the St. Monica Parish Hall on the days before and of the event. Packets and shirts are distributed at the St. Monica Parish Hall during packet pickup.
