Prairie State Cup
The Prairie State Cup is a collegiate draft legal sprint triathlon held at Clinton Lake SRA in Dewitt, Illinois. The race is open to NCAA collegiate women and is organized as a collegiate club competition. Waves may be used if entries reach a threshold; intended wave groupings involve NCAA Division I and II with 85 percent or higher ranking, and NCAA Division III with 85 percent or lower, with final wave assignments made by coaches, organizers, and officials.
The event takes place within the Clinton Lake SRA, a 5,000 acre park managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Clinton Lake supports camping, fishing, boating, and swimming. The swim location has a five year average water temperature of 77 to 80 degrees in the first week of October.
Course notes:
- 750 meter swim
- 12 mile bike
- 3.2 mile run
The running course is a flat out and back on a hiking and bike path with a compacted rock chip surface. The bike course is an out and back using the park hard roads in four loops and will operate as a closed course with support from local law enforcement, park staff, and volunteers. The event includes time cutoffs for safety and timeline control: a swim cutoff of 20 minutes and a bike cutoff of 45 minutes. Athletes remaining on course past the event timeline may receive a DNF status.
