Clinton Lake Ultra
The Clinton Lake Ultra is a trail running event held at Clinton Lake State Recreation Area in DeWitt, Illinois on March 27, 2027. The event offers two distances and uses a looped course that follows single-track trails through forest, hills, and meadows around the lake.
The course consists of three 10 mile loops that combine nearly all single-track trail with a short road and bridge section connecting both sides. Each loop has about 1500 feet of elevation gain. Two fully stocked aid stations are available on each loop. Timing is not chip based.
The event includes a mandatory volunteer requirement. Participants are expected to complete volunteer or trail work of about four hours at another race or on trail maintenance, reported on a form near race day. The organizer accepts volunteer work on the honor system and does not require signed verification.
Additional event details include a shirt registration deadline of 11:59pm on March 1 and a policy to avoid disposable cups at aid stations; runners are encouraged to carry a personal bottle or collapsible cup. No pacers and no early starts are allowed. Awards go to the top three men and top three women in the race, and all finishers receive a long sleeved item and a finisher item.
