Event Overview
The Allerton Races occur at Allerton Park in Monticello, Illinois. This event serves as a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Illinois and utilizes the park's trail system, including areas near the Sangamon River. Participants can choose to run or walk through the natural landscape of the park during a weekend of activities.
The event features several distinct race options:
- Half Marathon
- 10k
- Trail-Glo 5k
The Trail-Glo 5k takes place on Saturday evening and includes lighted statues and music along the course. The Half Marathon and 10k are held on Sunday morning. Finishers of the Sunday races receive commemorative medals.
For those unable to attend in person, a virtual race option is available for all three distances. Virtual participants complete their selected distance on their own course and can Submit their time and distance via a running app or GPS device. Virtual finishers also receive a medal by mail.
This event is part of the Monticello Triple Crown. Participants who complete an event in each of the three specific races hosted in Monticello qualify for a special series award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
