Prairie & Pines 5K and Half Marathon, Marshall MN : August 8–9, 2026
The Prairie & Pines weekend includes two running events based at the Red Baron Arena, 1651 Victory Dr., Marshall, MN 56258. Distances offered:
- 3.1 Miles - Prairie & Pines 5K Fun Run
- 13.1 Miles - Prairie & Pines Half Marathon
The 5K is described as a family-friendly fun run along the Camden Regional Trail. The half marathon is chip timed and follows a course that passes the SMSU campus, the ADM environmental learning trail, and connects to the Camden Regional Trail on the outskirts of town. Both races start and finish at the Red Baron Arena.
Event proceeds benefit the Marshall Area YMCA. Registration opens May 8, 2026 and closes July 8, 2026; published entry fees are $30.00 for the 5K and $50.00 for the half marathon. Registrants who register by July 8 receive giveaways: a cooling towel for 5K entrants and a t-shirt for half marathon entrants. A limited number of giveaways will be available after that date on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants who register for both events receive a $10 discount and both giveaways.
Logistics and services include packet pick up organized on August 8 with additional half marathon packet availability on race morning, restrooms at the Red Baron Arena, water at the 5K halfway point, supplies every 2 to 3 miles on the half marathon, volunteers for road crossings while roads remain open, and first aid access. The half marathon has a four hour time limit. Medals are planned for the top three finishers by gender in each age division. Post-event food trucks will include Rolling Hills Pizza (August 8 only), Taqueria el Tarasco, and Asian Hut. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
