Prairie & Pines 5K and Half Marathon, Marshall MN
The Prairie & Pines events take place in Marshall, Minnesota on August 8-9, 2026, with a central start and finish at the Red Baron Arena. Courses run along the Camden Regional Trail and include sections through the SMSU campus and the ADM environmental learning trail on the outskirts of town.
The event offers the following distances:
- 3.1 miles - Prairie & Pines 5K Fun Run
- 13.1 miles - Prairie & Pines Half Marathon
Registration opens May 8, 2026, and closes July 8, 2026. Early registrants receive giveaways: a cooling towel for 5K registrants and a t-shirt for half marathon registrants registered by July 8. A $10 discount is available for registering for both events. Packet pick up is organized the day before the event and on race morning for half marathon participants.
Support and safety details are provided along the courses: water is available at the halfway point of the 5K, and water, porta potties, and first aid are provided approximately every 2-3 miles during the half marathon. Volunteers assist with road crossings, but roads will not be closed. The half marathon has a four-hour time limit; strollers are not permitted. Awards are offered to the top three finishers by gender in each age division.
