Event
The Prairie Dog Town Run is an annual running event in Lubbock, Texas, established in 2007. It is scheduled for March 14, 2026 at the Fibermax Center for Discovery, E. Broadway and Canyon Lake Drive. Distances offered:
- 2 Mile Run/Walk
- 8 Mile Run
Entry and logistics
Registration opens on February 14, 2026. Bib pickup is available on race day only. Entry fees are listed as $8 for West Texas Running Club members and non-member children ages 7-12 for the 2-mile, and $20 for non-members for both distances. There is no race day registration and no refunds. Parking access is via the east side back gate on Broadway Street. The event does not include a race T-shirt. Age requirements are 7 and older for the 2-mile, 16 and older for the 8-mile, and 18 and older to use a stroller in the 2-mile.
Records and participation
The 2-mile event was established in 2007 and the 8-mile event was established in 2018. The event maintains age-group course records for both distances. Recent recorded finishers by year include: 194 in 2025, 188 in 2024, and 215 in 2023. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
