Powderface Mountain Marathon : Event overview
The Powderface Mountain Marathon is a trail running event in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies near Station Flats, Kananaskis (Bragg Creek, Alberta). It takes place on June 27, 2026. The event offers the following distances:
- ~42 km (marathon)
- half marathon
Course and logistics
The marathon distance includes about 1286 m of elevation gain on singletrack trails in Kananaskis. Course maps, elevation profiles and aid station locations are provided by the organizer. There is a registration cap of 150 entries; online registration closes June 24, 2026 or when the cap is reached. There is no race-day registration.
All finishers receive a finisher’s medal. Prizes are awarded to first, second and third in each gender for each distance. Marathon runners are subject to aid station cut-off points at approximately 23 km and 32 km.
Mandatory gear required on course includes a hydration pack, jacket, gloves and a BUFF to cover the ears. Suggested items include hiking poles, bear spray and trail shoes. Aid stations will offer water, an electrolyte drink (Blonyx Hydra+), cola, fruit, pretzels, chips and Xact Nutrition Fruit Bars. Drop bags can be placed at aid stations if labeled. Washrooms are located in the start/finish parking lot and parking at Station Flats is limited. Dogs, headphones and strollers are not permitted on the course; spectators are welcome at the start/finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
