Powderface Marathon & Half Marathon
The Powderface Mountain event at Station Flats, Kananaskis, offers a mountain marathon and a half marathon on K-Country singletrack trails.
- 42.2 km full marathon, approximately 1286 m elevation on K-Country singletrack
- Half marathon option on portions of the Powderface course
Mandatory gear for all runners includes a hydration pack, jacket, gloves and a BUFF to cover the ears. Optional items suggested include hiking poles, bear spray and trail shoes. Aid stations provide water, an electrolyte drink (Blonyx Hydra+), cola, fruit, pretzels, chips and Xact Nutrition fruit bars.
Drop bags can be placed at aid stations and should be labeled with the runner's name and checkpoint. The race enforces aid station cut-off times for marathon runners; participants who do not meet the cut-offs will be held at the aid station and transported back to the start. Dogs, headphones and strollers are not allowed on course. Washroom facilities are located in the parking lot at the start and finish and parking at Station Flats is limited. All finishers receive a finisher's medal and prizes are awarded to the top three in each gender for each distance. Organizers recommend prior trail runs of 25 to 30 km and regular hill or trail training. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
