Potomac River Views 5k & 10k
This event on March 6, 2027 takes place at Daingerfield Island in Alexandria, VA, along the Mount Vernon Trail. The course is a paved, fairly flat out-and-back route that runs along the Potomac River toward Old Town Alexandria and Orinoco Park.
Distances:
- 5k out-and-back along the Mount Vernon Trail.
- 10k out-and-back along the Mount Vernon Trail to Orinoco Park.
The event uses chip timing. Registered runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical event shirt. There is a virtual race option for participants who cannot attend in person. Walkers and strollers are allowed.
Water and aid: the 10k course includes three water stations at approximately mile markers 1.55, 3.1, and 4.65; the 5k course includes one water station at about mile 1.55. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are located near the marina.
Awards are given to the top three men and top three women overall, plus first and second place in several age groups (19 & under; 20–29; 30–39; 40–49; 50–59; 60–69; 70+). Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before the race to check in. Parking is available at Daingerfield Island along the George Washington Parkway.
