Potomac River Run Marathon & Half, May 1, 2027
The event is a marathon and a half marathon held at Fletcher's Cove, 4940 Canal Road NW, Washington DC, on the C&O Canal Towpath. The course is an out and back that starts and finishes at Fletcher's Cove and runs along the Potomac River.
Course surface is primarily crushed gravel, with two short paved stretches included to prevent erosion. The route is described as tree lined and shaded, with scenic river views. Highest elevation on the course is 44 m and lowest is 12 m. There are no cross streets on the course.
Aid stations operate along the route and close as the last runner approaches; the last aid station at Lock 6 closes at 1:30 PM. Slow runners are advised to bring a personal water bottle.
Packet pickup is available the day before at PACERS RUNNING STORE, 3100 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington VA, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM, and on race day at Fletcher's Cove with on-site pickup times in the morning. Organizers report marathon results to the Boston Athletic Association before the end of May to support Boston Marathon qualification.
Entry fees listed include a standard rate and a reduced rate for members of supporting clubs and active duty military. Monetary prizes are offered for the top three finishers and awards are given for age group winners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
