About the race
The Portland Trail Series is a low-key series of evening trail races held in Forest Park in Portland. Three five race seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall) run from April through October on Wednesday evenings. Each season includes five races, and individual races follow different courses through the park.
Courses vary in length and terrain, covering 4 to 7 miles each and featuring hilly trails. Runners who complete at least four races in a season are included in the overall season standings. Awards and age-group prizes are given for season results, and a post season awards party is held after the final race at Lucky Lab Beer Hall, where organizers present awards and hold a raffle.
Maps for each route are posted the Monday before a race; one event per season may be a Mystery Route, where the distance is announced but the specific trails are not disclosed in advance. Courses are marked on race day.
Registration details include season and single-race options. Drop-in registration is available on race day for a fee and is offered until capacity is reached. The organizer’s cancellation policy allows a 50 percent credit for cancellations made more than 30 days before a race and no credit within 30 days; there are no transfers or refunds. The Series benefits the Forest Park Conservancy. These events are running races, not walking races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
