Poppy Scotland Half Marathon
The Poppy Scotland Half Marathon is organised by Dunoon Community Council in collaboration with the Dunoon Poppy Appeal on behalf of Poppy Scotland. It is scheduled for Saturday 19th September 2026 and will run between Dunoon Pier and Toward lighthouse.
The organisers aim to raise £10,000 for Poppy Scotland. They estimate event running costs will exceed £4,000, covering items such as insurance, medals and t shirts for runners, council fees, and hire of equipment. Local businesses that donate will have their logo added to a sponsors banner that will be displayed during the event.
A town market is planned in Argyll Gardens with live entertainment in the afternoon. The market and entertainment are intended to provide activity for residents and visitors and to showcase the town.
The event will require a significant number of volunteers to help manage the day safely and smoothly. A volunteer registration process is in place for those who wish to offer assistance.
