Event overview
Ardgartan Trail Race is a trail footrace on 7 February 2026 at Ardgartan Forest Park, Ardgartan, Arrochar (G83 7AR). The distance is 21 (ish) miles with about 3,500 ft of elevation. The route is around 90% off road and follows a loop of the Ardgartan Peninsula, including tarmac sections, forestry trails and an open hill section across to Lochgoilhead, then a climb back up to the Rest And Be Thankful and a final downhill to the finish. The route is subject to change due to forestry works or storm damage. UTMB points: n/a. Total places: 140. Race t-shirt is an optional extra.
Practical information
There are two water stations at 7 miles and 13 miles. Due to limited car park capacity, runners are asked to car share where possible; additional parking information will be provided in the race briefing. There are no specific entry requirements but entrants must be confident in their ability to complete the distance and elevation within the cut off time.
Mandatory kit to be carried by each runner includes a full-size foil blanket, a working mobile phone with the race control number, trail food/snacks, means to carry water (flask/water bottles) and a small first aid kit for cuts/blisters. Recommended kit includes waterproofs, hat/gloves, extra layers and suntan lotion. Refund rules: 30-day cooling-off with a £15 administration fee; after 30 days and up to 12 weeks before the race a 50% refund; 0% refund within 0-12 weeks. No deferrals except for travel restrictions or lockdowns. Race rules include photo ID at registration, no transfer of places, no muling, no walking poles, no support runners, no dogs and prohibition of NSAID use during the race.
