David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation Run 5K
The event is a 5 kilometer road race held at Eisenhower Park Field 2. The course uses the traditional LIRRC 5K layout and is USATF certified. The event is scheduled to proceed rain or shine.
Proceeds benefit the Long Island Police Crisis Foundation, with the first $1000 in proceeds directed to a local police running club scholarship fund. A high quality commemorative shirt is provided to every entrant.
Awards are presented for overall top finishers, a memorial award to the top female overall, top three male and female finishers across standard age groups from 14 and under through 90 plus, and a top wheelchair finisher. A separate law enforcement division awards the top three male and female finishers and the top three masters in that division. Law enforcement entrants who do not place in the division remain eligible for age group awards. There is also a special award for the fastest combined time across this race and a designated 5K held later in June.
Day of race bib pickup is at the Eisenhower Park Field House between Parking Field 1 and Parking Field 2. The organizer provides live online results, same-day finish line photos, and video. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
