Police Appreciation Run 5K
The David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation Run is a community 5K held at Eisenhower Park - Field 2. The event supports the Long Island Police Crisis Foundation, with the first $1,000 in proceeds designated for the Nassau Police Running Club Scholarship Fund.
Participants receive a commemorative race shirt. The event includes multiple race categories and recognition: overall top male and female awards (including a named female award), top wheelchair finisher, top 3 male and female finishers by age group, and a separate law enforcement division with top finishers and masters placings. Law enforcement entrants who do not win a law enforcement division award remain eligible for age group awards.
A special combined-time award recognizes the fastest open and masters male and female runners across this 5K and the D.C. Raymond Downey "Forever Running" 5K on a later date. The course follows the traditional LIRRC 5K layout and is USATF certified.
Day-of bib pickup is at the Eisenhower Park Field House (between Parking Field #1 and Parking Field #2); a self-lookup area is available for runners who do not know their bib number. There is a note that registering about three weeks before the race allows for a personalized race number. Live online results and same-day finish-line photos are provided.
