Event Overview
The Point Mariah Trail Marathon is scheduled for August 1, 2026, at Soda Springs Ski Resort. The course primarily runs through the protected Royal Gorge land near Soda Springs, California, with views of the Granite Chief Wilderness, the Pacific Crest, and the Royal Gorge.
Course Details
The marathon course is a multi-loop design with five segments that all return to a central aid station on Soda Springs Road. The total distance is approximately 26.4 miles with about 4,300 feet of elevation gain, ranging from 6,800 to 7,600 feet. The trail surface is 85% single track and 15% double track or dirt road.
The five segments are:
- Section 1 (Emigrant): 5.8 miles, ~950 ft gain.
- Section 2 (Point Mariah): 4.85 miles, ~700 ft gain.
- Section 3 (Rowton Peak): 5.75 miles, ~850 ft gain.
- Section 4 (Rowton Peak): 4.26 miles, ~900 ft gain.
- Section 5 (Emigrant): 5.8 miles, ~900 ft gain.
Race Options and Fees
Three race formats are available:
- Marathon: Individual entry.
- Partner Marathon: A relay for two people.
- 5-Person Team Marathon: A relay for three to five people.
In all relay options, participants run sections of the full marathon course, and all hand-offs occur at the central aid station. Entry fees are $85 for the Marathon, $150 for the Partner Marathon, and $250 for the 5-Person Team. Prices increase on June 1.
Logistics
Parking for participants and spectators is only permitted at Soda Springs Ski Resort. A shuttle service is provided to the central aid station; walking, running, or biking the 2.5-mile distance is also permitted. Personal vehicles are not allowed at the aid station. The event has an 8-hour time limit.
Other Information
The refund policy offers a 100% refund before July 1 and no refunds on or after July 1. The event welcomes volunteers for various roles, including aid station support and shuttle driving. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
